Dr Mónika Kellermann PhD
Specialist in Psychiatry
I obtained my medical degree from the University of Debrecen in 1996 and completed my specialist qualification in psychiatry in 2000. In 2007, I continued my professional career in Germany, where I worked as a research associate at the Department of Forensic Psychiatry at Saarland University in Homburg.
As a specialist psychiatrist, I have been involved in several clinical studies focusing on the pharmacological and psychotherapeutic treatment of adults with ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder). During my work in Germany, I had the opportunity to collaborate closely with experienced ADHD specialists and gain extensive expertise in the assessment and treatment of ADHD. My interest and commitment to this field remain strong, and ADHD continues to be one of my primary areas of specialisation.
Between 2011 and 2024, I worked in various psychiatric institutions in Munich. Since 2024, I have been practising exclusively in Budapest.
Symptoms of ADHD typically begin in childhood and persist into adulthood in approximately 60% of cases, often presenting in a different form over time (“symptom shift”). Even in adulthood, ADHD can continue to cause significant difficulties in areas such as attention, organisation, emotional regulation and impulse control. Many people affected only begin to recognise the underlying cause of their challenges later in life and therefore seek targeted support as adults.
When left untreated, ADHD can have a substantial impact on education, career development, relationships and everyday functioning. ADHD also commonly occurs alongside other mental health conditions, including sleep disorders, anxiety disorders, mood disorders and substance misuse. A comprehensive and carefully differentiated assessment, together with individually tailored treatment, is therefore particularly important. I am deeply committed to supporting individuals who may have spent many years searching for understanding and answers regarding their difficulties.
Please note that I do not provide treatment for substance use disorders, including dependence on alcohol, drugs, sedatives or sleeping medication, nor for dementia-related conditions.
